Training

You and your team make the most effective advocates for your case. We will assist you to strengthen your capability to undertake your lobbying. Whether through training company executives, trade or professional association officers, voluntary organisation officers and members or local authority staff, we will equip you with the skills and knowledge to ensure that you increase your own in-house lobbying expertise.

We will undertake an audit to establish what experience people in your organisation have, what requirements exist and then map out a framework for seminars and workshops. This is able to cover all aspects of lobbying from preparing your message, identifying and contacting key targets to dealing with the public affairs aspects of crisis management.

Select Committee Training

Appearing before a select committee can be daunting, even for the most experienced advocate, and although giving oral evidence should benefit you and your message, sometimes the Committee does not always draw the best out of witnesses. Indeed, it can be a wasted opportunity, or at worst lead to negative publicity.

We give witnesses detailed briefing and, through a rehearsal, a first-hand experience of what you can expect from the committee. Using ex-MPs as questioners, they consider the same line of questioning and give the same responses that you can expect to come from the actual Committee.

Witnesses we have worked with have told us that they have benefited greatly from the rehearsal, that the questions were well anticipated and as a result they were much better equipped to use the occasion to their advantage. We offer:

  • A rehearsal with detailed analysis of witness performance, from body language to interaction between witnesses and content of answers
  • A list of questions that might be asked of you, and briefing on the issue from a political perspective
  • Background on the Committee members including their interest in the issue and relevant past comments and views
